SOMTEI gipakaging sa 7th Batch Link Forces

Niadtong miaging Domingo Oktubre 25, 2009 sa kahapunon gipilde sa dehado nga Link Forces Team ang inilog na SOMTEI team. Nagkaguliyang ang SOMTEI sa gipakita na depensa ug opensa sa Link Force. Makita ninyo ang improvement sa ilang offense at defense nga maoy nagdala nila sa kadaugan batok sa SOMTEI. Ang team SOMTEI nagkaguliyang sa gipakita sa Link Force nga ning gamit sa ilang Man to man defense ug Full Court Pressure.

Gikan sa sugod hangtud sa katapusan naggukod ang SOMTEI nga ning duwa wala ang usa sa ilang mga sinaligan nga c ALEX tungod sa iyang injury. Gipanguluhan ang Link Force Team ni Gilhang ug Arcallana.

Ug tungod sa kadaugan sa Link Force, waiting the sila para sa Championship karon umaabot Nobyembre 8, 2009 sa hapon sa SOM Boystown Gymnasium. Ilang makaharong ang modaug tali sa Activ-8 vs 3rd Batch Saints Team. Ang SOMTEI moduwa para sa 2nd Runner-Up ilang makuntra ang mapilde tali sa Activ-8 vs 3rd Batch Saints Team.

Schwartz Team: nawagtangag paglaom

ALAS 2:00 sa hapon adlaw'ng Domingo sa Oktubre 11, 2009 ming daug napud ang Activ8 Team batok sa dili pud basta2x na team, ang Schwartz Team. Ang kapildehan maoy nagwagtang sa paglaom sa Schwartz na makataak sa Quarter Finals sa nagpadayong Fr. AL's Cup Tournament.

Sa pagsugod hangtud sa naghinapos na quarter, sikit ang score sa matag team. Pulos daghan ug turn over ang matag panig...pero ning patig babaw ang kaidlas ug determinasyon sa Activ8 para tapuson ang Elimination Round nga dunay perpektong record na 7-0.

Bisan man tuod ug gidimalas ang team captain nga c Ruel Sumodlayon pero ang iyang mga kauban ang ninghulip ug nagkumbuya para ihatud ang team Activ8 ngadto sa kadaugan. Grabe naka pakita sa iyang abilidad gamit ang iyang taas na experyensa sa larangang basketbol, c Hilario Ignacio mga may puntos na mokabat ngadto sa 14 puntos. Si Mark Escobar nipakita pud sa iyang abilidad from the perimeter having 3-point shots ug c Rene Lopera sa iyang mga fast break ang crossover moves.

Tungod sa kadaugan sa Activ8, maghuwat nalang sila sa number 4 slot para mao ilang maikaharong sa semi-finals. Kini duwaon karong umaabot na nobyembre 8, 2009.

Alumni Homecoming (September 20, 2009 @ SOM Talisay)

Being an SOM grad has never been this exciting! Last Sept.20, 2009, the alumni of the Sisters of Mary had once again united and gathered to share and celebrate father's Al life. The sneak peak of the program was teamed "Go For Glory: A Celebration of Greatness and Gratefulness" In line with this very important celebration were some of the activities that could somehow motivate us to look forward, the awarding for the Search of Outstanding Alumni 2009. It was given emphasis to those individuals who excel in their respective endeavors & some plaque of appreciation to those who have rendered their time, treasure and talents for the success of the previous alumni gatherings. Former alumni officers and those who mark their unwavering faithfulness to serve our beloved alma mater largely composed these individual. Among the awardees were our very own active8 outstanding cliques: Mr. RAY CABASA, Mr. STEVE PAUL CABATO & Mr. RENE LOPERA. Whether they were young or just young-at heart, making achievements have no exemptions.

At noontime was the well-set captivating slide show of Father Al's life that made us reminisce and contemplate his works and sacrifices for us. To add more excitement to the celebration was the wacky dance presentation of our younger batches and a bunch of prices and games. The second highlight of the program was the awarding of the winners for the Muse Contest. Our bet, Rosalina Bilocura, gave us the 2nd runner-up slot of winners. The crowned muse was the very supportive 1st batch lady, Trixie.

A fireworks display end up the celebration. It was sponsored by one of our batchmate, Joveniano Doroon, who share his blessings in coordination with the active8 troops. This portion “ma-uy pinaka bibo sa tanan kai haztang unsa mang pag ka unsa-a nga kita man ang gi pa silhig sa mga sagbot pag ka human huhuhu”. As per Rodson (" FIRST TIME NAKU MO APIL SA ALUMNI, GI PA SILHIG DAYUN KO" NYA USAB PA MU???:-)

But somehow Father Al miss us that much, the stretching of our muscles and cracking of our joints were this time somewhat tougher than tough:-). Anyway everyone had fun doing the “panilhig” thing in spite sa ka init sa adlaw nga sobra pa sa sun bathing ang show. It’s like looking back the time when we were still young; our past duties while we were students keeping the campus clean and have fun. To add the fun, the civic works of the active8 troops did not end up with the ”panilhig” sa basketball court but sa pag ”yayong” sa wooden stage from gym 1 to the audio building right beside St.Mary’s building. Everyone..had..a.good..time!.

Its heart warming seeing that after all these years, after all we’ve achieved and done, that childlike manner that we learned when we were still an SOM student is still present in our hearts. We may become somebody that could soar high later on. But one thing for sure Fr. Al and the Sisters of Mary taught us, it is to look back to the ground when we are already flying high.

Activ8: Gipalagpot ang Slashers

DOMINGO sa buntag September 27, 2009 gitangtangan ug paglaom sa Activ8 team ang Slashers. Mao to ang ilang ikaupat na kapildehan. Bisan man tuod ang duha ka secret weapons sa Activ8 na sila c goRyo ug leRoy wala may puntos nga nahimo pero ilang presensya igo na kaau nga nakatabang sa ilang team para buntugon ang slashers sa final score na 90-57.

Grabe naka duwa c Ruel ug Hilario nga maoy ningduslit sa 12-1 run sa pagsugod sa 3rd quarter. Gkan didto wala na ninglingi pagbalik ang Activ8 ug ningpadayon pagdominate sa Slashers. Kay buot huna2x dili pud ka kumpyansaan ang team Slashers kay grabe ilang teamwork. Mao wala jud nagpakita ug pagluag sa ilang depensa ang Activ8 ni Coach Ray Cabasa.

Grabe naka cheers ang mga 8th batch girls sa team Activ8 the same with sa mga 9th batch girls todo suporta pud sa ilang Slashers Team. Murag dugdog ug kidlat imong madungog sulod sa gymnasium...pati ang mga bata nalingaw naglantaw sa ilang mga ate nga pwerte nang mga gwapaha.

Ang duha ka bossing sa 8th batch nga sila c Rene ug Oyong grabe pud nakapakita sa ilang abilidad. Grabe ang mga fastbreak moves ni bai Rene bai.labon a kun ma shot pwerte kusuga mo dagan balik pikas ring. Ug naay usa ka higayon nga dili pwede makalimtan...c Leroy padulong mo fastbreak sa korte sa kuntra may galing wala gipasa ni Hilario sa iyaha ang bola...maka ingon jud tag LUOY LANG TA.

GRABEHA KA THRILLING SA DUWA!!! Active8 Won Against 1st Batch (Aloysians)

Last September 13, 2009 (Sunday), we fought a good game against the first batch guys (Aloysians). Just a matter of 2 points in the last 40 seconds made by our very own 8th batch boystown corps commander, Floriano Baisac, JR., closed our win against the Aloysians. They owned the ball for the last 28 seconds and got two attempts to score. Fortunately, they missed those two last shots and after that we jumped in happiness for we are still undefeated. Although we won the game but the road was really rough in getting that win. Some of our players were hurt during the game because of its physical pressure. Our team captain, Ruel Sumodlayon, almost broke his arm when he charged one of the first batch players on a fast break attempt. Also Joveniano Doroon got elbowed in the mid section of his body. We struggled a lot during the game especially stopping their key player, Malagar. But a big comeback to our 3-point sniper, Rocelito Mendoza, exploded. He nailed 3 consecutive 3 points to draw our lead. The turning point of our defense was when our tower player, Jevan Zozobrado, arrived during the 3rd quarter. He managed to put a defensive pressure along with other players to the Aloysians score maker. After that, the score was in our favor but the margin was not big enough to be confident in winning. It was in the last 1 minute and few seconds of 4th quarter that they nailed a shot to tie the score. We called a timeout to discuss what to do for the last 1 minute (si Raqz kay wala na ningtan.aw kay dili na daw niya kaya magsud-ong sa game). The ball was in our possession and it was dropped to Jevan at the low post. Immediately, 3 Aloysians players rushed to him and covered him in all angles. Thanks to that, Baisac was freed from his defender and was very close to the basketball. Jevan immediately passed the ball to Baisac. WAAAAAAAAA!!!!! Baisac gave us our salvation shot of the game. Aside from that, our three key players (Ruel Sumodlayon, Joy Mortal and Roger Manimog) helped us a lot in their consistent scoring. To all our players, thank you for a job well done.

Of course, ang atong mga cheerers kay payter kaayo. Mura gud ug 8th batch cheerers vs. boystown students…hahahahaahaha….Luoy lang ta, gamay nga tingog sa atong mga cheerers kay puwerteng daghanang mga estudyante ang mo-away…hahahahaah…..nganong gipildi ang SOMTEI…..hahahaha….Paghuman sa game kay snacks dayon….pabalik sa kusog sa atong mga players….ug sa mga cheerers….abi nakog si Raqz ang nagluto sa bihon, iya diay Mama…palaban sa Mama…hehehehe…peace Raqz..

The Activ8 secret weapon… made won against Link Force!

This has been the season of great movements where great players and secret weapons of the Link Forces {7th batch} and Active 8 { 8th Batch}, has gotten together to really push through the near ends of Fr. Al's Cup '09. It's were the action begins! as they kicked of the first quarter with almost two simultaneous 3-points shot by Ruel Sumudlayon and a tight defense from each players of the Active 8. As the game cotinues to the second half, there was a close fight in regards to the scoring and the movements of each of the players from both teams. But Link Forces wasn't able to counter act very well on how the Active 8 tightened the defense and how cruel Zozobrado (center) was!



‘Once again congratulation for finally making it, Sunday (August 23, 2009) was a success! Activ8 won for the fourth time against link force! Let's double our pace even more! =)

Discover who??? a man behind this success was finally reactiv8, the secret weapon of activ8 reveals and made won for this fight “a man in a secret move” that’s no other than Eng’r. Bante Cabato :-) for garnering _2(K)_ pts. (hehehehe) so as, to the out-voicing cheererrsss (…8th batch gurLs hehehehehe) tenk U so much!

MANIMOGZ killer 3ptz and the sizzling power plus agility and strength from the players with
ultimate Intelligence of our COUCH definetly outlast the 7batch. Even their siNaligaN (mr. long hair) has nothing to say against the exceptional combination of the Active8. (hahahhaha murag dota)

How time flies! were on Sunday’s more go to.. .We're almost in the bottom line of our TOURNAMENT! This early, let me pat your back for a job well done, and it wouldn't be possible without your patience, service, and commitment! So let's hit the iron while it's hot!

I'm sure everyone had a fill with so many food, In line with this, I would like to thank for the hands who prepare those savory spag. to Ms.Irene Quino and Ms. Philma Carillo, Slice bread to Ms. Vice Mildred and Ms. Muse Rosalina.

Hands-off!!! last Sunday August 16, 2009, was refreshingly surprising, an smashing blows with active8 guys… a day full of fun and surprises. I never thought it would be that fun. God truly works in mysterious ways. I thank all the brothers and sisters for lending all-out support. They had indeed taken seriously the challenge. Now, that's what I call a TEAM!!!

I just hope it's only the beginning. We have a long way to go. Thank you so much. Thank you for all the things you have done... words alone could not even suffice. Along the way we may had encountered road bumps, if not boulders, still let us kept our bonding intact and kept on serving to our batch.

April 18, 2009 batch reunion marked the turning point of 8th batch graduates to be reunited after 8 long years. The event paved way for graduates to reach out to each other despite the miles that took us to where we are right now, way beyond the portals of our Alma Mater.

Last June 14, 2009, The Sisters of Mary gate was opened for the prestigious yearly sports event better known as Father’s Al Cup. This event binds the alumni of the Sisters of Mary through sports such as basketball and volleyball. The finale of this event will happen on the 2nd week of September. Fortunately, our batch formed a basketball team to represent us.

With that earnest motivation, our goal is not just simply be reunited but to cherish together this event will bring us. This event gives us the chance to prove to other graduates what 8th batch can do.

In line of this, we knock your hearts to share with us in creating a memorable occasion for everybody with your kind support and God-given blessings. This will assist us in our batch basketball team expenses especially with the basketball uniform. Any amount will surely be of great help.

ACTIVE8 DOMINATES (3RD VICTORY)

ACTIVE8 beat 11th batch with out mercy 90-82. It's the 3rd sweet victory of 8th batch and the 1st agony of the 11th batch as they were conquered for the first time . In spite long intervals of each game, Active8 has just proven that its winning power would never subside as every player and cheerers has kept their burning zeal and desire to win. It was just an exciting game as the rival was on the lead on the 1st half. However on the 2nd half Active8 had fired their ultimate power and wits on the game giving no chance for the 11th batch for the win as ACTIVE8 throws unstoppable shoots and cheers. Its was such an admirable one seeing how the team efforts work as the players maneuver the game sending message to the opponent that triumph is our business. FUN, VICTORIOUS AND EXCITING would be the best words for this game. Lets keep on praying that the will to win while having fun would bring us to the finals. TO GOD BE THE GLORY

The victory was gratified by the generosity of sis MILDRED who provides delicious food shared by the whole team.Everyone wears victorious smiles and cheers while enjoying the food teasing and chatting. The great bonding of 8th batch become even more closer as we participate every events of our Al mater and for me, this is the reason why we guyz should CELEBRATE AND BE JOYOUS. SALUTE TO ACTIVE8!!!!

Thank you, guys, for participating last Sunday’s game most especially sa mga ni sponsors sa snacks highly stress ni Irene (glass), Pancit ( muse Rosalina), softdrinks (bday gurl vice Mildred) , Ice water curtsy of "STEVE THE WONDER WATER BOY" and thanks God of giving me such financial blessings to buy slice bird..oowww “bread” diay hehehehhe. It's heart-warming to see everyone had a good time. True, there were hurdles, but what is important is the outcome---that everyone enjoyed. Isn't it written somewhere, all's well that ends well? We've seen so many transformations, friendships blooming, and above all, brotherhood growing.

…as in everything went well from the preparation to the FINAL REHEARSAL hehehehehe (bang-an sa coach..:-) UG SA MGA CUTE NGA CHEERESSS WAHAHAH... Without everyone's commitment to share their time, talent and treasures, game was not that successful kaya KUDOS to all 8th batch. Personally, I am so glad with how everyone is doing in our batch. Nindot lang ang feeling when I see people unleasing their talents specially sa atong players hehe, when I see our batch mate helping each other just to have their respective assignments done and receiving financial contributions just to have enough food for everybody attending the events.

So let's keep up with the energy. Why not throw another fellowship? Why not indeed? It's the best time you get to know our bros and sis while soaking the sand, sun, and fun!

Let's congratulate our players for there first win in the Fr.Al's Cup Competition. The main motivation of our players are the chocolate cakes they will be eating after the game. That's why they thundered the 3rd batch with 31 points. Thanks to Ms. Raquiel Arbores for sponsoring 3 boxes of chocolate cakes (imagine, 3 boxes of chocolate cakes...punga-punga gud ug kaon atong mga players hasta ang mga officers. Ila unta to tagaan ang mga referees pero wala man mudawat sila....hehehe....tingali unyag ingnon nga bribery....naa pa gali sobra...ambot asa to nila gihatag). Thanks also to the 8th batch and 8th batch officers nga ning.adto para mo support sa atong mga player (kanang naa sa taas nga picture...hurot jud intawn ila tingog kay medyo gamay ra man ni sila unya to think nga nagshagit-shagit ni sila sa game...kinsa naay megaphone ninyo diha?..magdala ta sunod game para klaro kaau atong mga cheers...hehehe...mura tag nagwelga didto, dala-dala ta ug megaphone). Hopefully managhan ta mga supporters nga moadto inig duwa sa atong team.

Unwind and Despidida

I had the chance to be invited by the 8th batch's get together to unwind from last Sunday's activity which is the Fr. Al's Cup opening or sportsfest. This was the first time I've ever met the 8th batch guys on a light dinner together with Ray Cabasa (President), Steve Paul Cabato( PRO), Raquel Albores (PRO), Irene Quiño ( Treasurer), Mildred Farma(VP-Girls), Luche, Ruel, Philma, Dave, and all of the guys basta 8th batch mi tanan. It's as if we we're a little boys and girls sharing each other in a little table in one doormatory of SOM, with all those giggles and big grins as we ate our dinner(how nice those days were). Here at Parkmall Joven's, it's eat all you can so you could have as much as your stomach could hold and maybe put it somehwere on your "bagtak".


The other reason why we're here was it's also a sort of despidida for Suzete Altubar (The 2009 8th batch Secretary), for she will be reassigning to Vietnam and it would effect by 28th of June this year, days from now...she would be temporarily diverge us. May this dinner would somehow bring her a good luck and a more power to her.

Truly as we eat,laugh, jamn, and got drunk together we would always know that this memories will be forever in our minds and it fasten the friendship that was never been established.
